Hemaview Live Blood Analysis (Robyn Thompson)
Hemaview is a live blood screening that may help your practitioner improve your health more than ever before. Using only 1-2 drops of your blood your fully trained practitioner will use Hemaview to investigate the size, shape and ratios of the red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets in your blood. From this your practitioner may identify certain nutritional and lifestyle factors that may improve your health. You can view this process on a monitor – most clients find this fascinating. top

  Ayurveda
(Andrew Stenberg - Limited time)
AYURVEDA is the oldest health care system known – its written records go back 5-6000 years.
Meaning: :”Ayus” means “lifespan”, and “Veda” means “Knowledge” – so Ayurveda means “Science of Life”, or “Knowledge for a long and healthy life”.
There are 3 controlling principles found in Nature. They are VATA, PITTA AND KAPHA.
Everybody has all 3 Doshas present within them, but we can all have widely different proportions of each – and this contributes to all the differences between people (and their dogs and their cats as well).
In a living being, Vata is responsible for the nervous system, thinking, hearing, speaking, movement, breathing and elimination. It is fast and light, dry and changeable.
Pitta is responsible for the digestive system, metabolism, emotions, eyesight, skin and the intellect. It moves at a medium speed, is slightly oily, hot or warm, intense and focused.
Kapha is responsible for all the structures in the body, for fluid balance, fat metabolism, the joints, muscles etc. It moves slowly, and is calm, slow to change and often carries more weight than the other Doshas.
So a person who has a lot of Vata in their makeup, compared to the other 2 Doshas, will think a lot, move a lot, talk a lot (and quickly too). They are also likely to be lighter in build, a bit dry in the skin and they change their minds a lot. And they often love music and dancing (ie movement).
A person with a lot of Pitta in their makeup will tend to get very hungry at mealtimes, maybe a bit irritable or intense if out of balance, may have reddish or sensitive skin, and a good clear intellect.
A person who has a lot of Kapha in their makeup is usually of a larger and/or more solid build, will often have thick hair, and may have oilier skin than the other 2 Doshas. They have a calm and easygoing nature as a rule. Out of balance, Kapha may be overweight, lethargic and prone to bronchial or fluid retention problems. Kapha-dominant people tend to have late nights, and then often sleep in for too long in the morning. They can sometimes feel depressed or unmotivated.
Maharishi Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of a good daily routine, digesting food properly for good nourishment, an adequate amount of good quality sleep, and regular daily meditation. All these not only give us a healthier, happier life, but ease and speed the path towards full potential – enlightenment.

top Herbal Medicine (Robyn Thompson, Margaret Boyd-Squires )
Herbal Medicine is still the first choice in many cultures, being successfully used for thousands of years. Herbalists prepare unique treatments, after consultations with clients that will include discussions about lifestyle, medical history and nutrition. Western Herbalists use only whole plants or plant parts in their preparations. Clients may be treated through the use of teas, capsules and tablets, extracts and tinctures, essential oils and various other herbal preparations. Herbs contain a large number of naturally occurring chemicals that have biological activity and compounds from plants that are used to produce reliable pharmaceutical drugs. Herbalism does however support holistic treatment, with prevention of disease being as important as the treatment of a particular illness. Another benefit of choosing herbal medicines is that a profound transformation in health can be achieved, without the danger of the inherent side effects common in drug-based medication. Conditions which may benefit by herbal medicines, include a wide range of minor ailments such as: • Upset stomachs • The common Cold and Flu • Headaches, menstrual problems • Sore muscles • Skin rashes and so forth. Other conditions that respond well to herbal remedies are: • Digestive disorders such as Peptic Ulcers • Colitis and Irritable Bowel Syndrome • Rheumatic and Arthritic Conditions • Chronic skin problems such as Eczema and Psoriasis • Anxiety and tension related stress • Bronchitis and other respiratory conditions • Hypertension and allergies. An initial consultation with a western Herbalist, will take from 1 to 1 ½ hours and several follow up sessions are usually required. Herbal products are an important part of health care but self prescription is not advisable, as even the safest herb can interact with other medications. A consultation with a professional Herbalist is recommended. top
Homeopathy (Robyn Thompson, Marg Nolan and Lauren Allender)
Homeopathy is suitable for the whole family, especially for babies. It is safe and gentle and very effective for all types of health problems. The most asked question is “what is homeopathy”? Homeopathy is a method of treatment which stimulates the body’s own healing processes in order to cure illnesses. Homeopathy is based upon the discovery that a substance is small does can alleviate symptoms similar to those it causes in higher doses. The phrase “like cures like” is often used to describe a basic concept behind homeopathy. The remedies are extremely diluted so that there are no toxic effects. The remedies are made from plants, minerals and other natural substances. A detailed case study is taken and every detail of a person’s life is important, not just the symptoms in isolation and a remedy is prescribed determined by the totality of the symptoms. top

It helps to heal issues and achieve goals such as resolving traumas, exploring emotional and psychological blocks and changing unwanted habits. Massage and Specialist Bodywork
Botanica offers a wonderful range of massage from remedial to gentle and relaxing! We also are fortunate to have experienced practitioners in specialised bodywork such as Applied Kinesiology, Bowen Therapy, Neuro-emotional Technique, Integrative Fascial Release, Rolfing and Cranial Osteopathy top
Remedial Massage (Noni Turner and Sally Thomas) The Remedial Massage is a firmer form of massage utilising an assortment of deep fractioning techniques used to relax, stretch and break down muscular tension. It is a massage modality that is used for the treatment for all forms of soft tissue injuries. Approaches also include deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, isometric contractions and positional release techniques and myofascial techniques. This massage would be suitable for soft tissue injuries, tendonitis, frozen shoulder, repetitive stress injuries and many other injuries. top Lymphatic Drainage Massage (Margaret Boyd-Squires)
The Lymphatic system is our front line of defence in fighting infections, detoxifying the body and transporting metabolic wastes, excess water, bacteria and toxins out of the body. The Lymph glands (at neck, armpits, groin, etc.) are connected by a broadnetwork of vessels which transplant the fluid. Muscular movement is required to move it, as there is no "Heart" to pump it. Lymphatic drainage massage aids the movement of lymph and is particularly useful when the body is overloaded with toxins. It is also highly recommended for those prone to and recovering from sore throats, colds, infections, on-going tiredness, excess fluid, low immunity, swollen glands and also for the physically inactive. Lymphatic drainage is indicated after the removal of lymph glands (such as in breast cancer) as the lymphatic system often needs help to treat and prevent the build up of fluid. The massage usually includes the whole body and is at times gentle but deeper massage may be required in areas where lymph flow is blocked by muscular tension. There is a feeling of well being immediately after the massage as the nervous system has relaxed and the toxins begin to move out of the body. Myofascial Release / Integrative Fascial Release (Steven Goldstein) Integrative Fascial Release is a form of Somatic Bodywork. The myofascial is utilised to create a somatic approach allows for a differing relationship with the body. Myofascial surrounds every muscle fibre, every muscle group, creating the space through which muscles move in relationship to one another. When muscles glue or adhere to one another, function is impeded and the structure of the body suffers. IFR focuses upon three myofascial releasing methods: autonomous nervous system release, movement and mechanical releases. Treating holistically and three dimensionally, treatment approaches for physiological dysfunctions utilizes deep tissue remedial techniques along with direct osteopathic approaches that focus upon the autonomic nervous system. This combination has been extremely successful for all sorts of soft-tissue disorders. top Rolfing (Tyrone Brown) Rolfing Structural Integration, or Rolfing as it is more commonly known, was devised by Dr Ida P Rolf, as a holistic system of soft tissue manipulation and movement education. It is an approach to healing that deals with the way the body's structure affects its function.
Rolfing aims to realign the body by using deep pressure and stroking massage techniques to stretch shortened and tightened myofascia back into shape. With treatment, the myofascia becomes softer and more flexible, restoring its natural balance in relation to muscles, tendons and bones. With this change of myofascia, the practitioner evokes a more normal movement, enhancing a more natural flow of energy. Practitioners use their knuckles, knees, elbows, or fingers to create pressure that manipulates the myofascia, releasing deeply held tension. Patients are usually treated on a massage table and will be appropriately unclothed. Education is also an important part of the treatment, to increase the patient's awareness of body structure.
Research has demonstrated that Rolfing creates a more efficient use of the muscles, allows the body to conserve energy, and creates more economical and refined patterns of movement. It is a beneficial treatment for people who have a history of injury whereby the minor injuries are beginning to interfere with their everyday lives. Some problems for which it would be suitable are: • Whiplash • Poor Posture • Chronic Pain • R.S.I. A full Rolfing course involves 10 sessions of 60 to 90 minutes each, however this can vary depending on what the client is after. top Applied Kinesiology (Hugh Bevege) Applied Kinesiology can determine health imbalances in the body's organs and glands by identifying weaknesses in specific muscles. Stimulation or relaxation in these key muscles allows an Applied Kinesiologist to diagnose and resolve a variety of health problems. Applied Kinesiology aims to: • Determine patient health status and correlate findings with standard diagnostic procedures • Restore postural balance, correct gait impairment and improve range of motion • Restore normal nerve function • Achieve normal endocrine, immune, digestive, and other internal organ functions • Intervene early in degenerative processes to prevent or delay pathological conditions Visiting an Applied Kinesiologist involves patient history (including diet and lifestyle), as well as muscle testing. Unlike general Kinesiology the focus of this therapy is on the many different muscle tests done in a session of treatment. top
  Jin Shin Jyutsu
(Christine Croker)
Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese healing art that helps restore physical and emotional balance and release tensions and stress which accumulate in the body resulting in pain and chronic conditions. It treats the body, mind and spirit.
The practitioner simply places the fingertips gently in sequence while you lie face up, fully clothed on a massage table. It is not a physical manipulation of tissue and uses minimal pressure. Reflexology (Karen Beresford)

Reflexology is a wholistic, non-invasive therapy which compliments other therapies and modern medicine. It is based on the principle that all parts of the body are reflected on the feet, hands and ears. Reflexology works to promote balance in physical, mental, emotional and energetic levels of the body. The proven benefits of reflexology are; reduces stress, balances the nervous system, improves sleep quality, boosts lymphatic function, improves circulation, detoxifies the body, enhances the body's natural healing process, affects all body systems, promotes body awareness and increases overall vitality. Reiki (Martha)
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with other therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. Dr Hauschka Facial Treatments (Julija Kolega Halilovic)
