Dong Quai 1:2 (Angelica Sinensis)

Description:

Dong Quai is mainly used as a female reproductive tonic

Dosage:

4-8 mls per day, 30-60 mls per week

  • Post-partum tonic
  • Debility (especially secondary to breastfeeding)
  • Liver damage
  • Chronic hepatitis
  • Constipation
  • Congealed blood conditions ie abdominal pain, trauma, swellings, bruising
  • Anaemia with dizziness and palpitations (TCM)
  • Atrial fibrillation, prevention of atherosclerosis (in vivo)
  • Impaired peripheral circulation

Major Safety Issues:

Contraindicated in pregnancy (first trimester)

Caution with warfarin, acute infections and heavy menstruation
